Who’s Lost Their Lobster? The Strangest Things Left In Taxis

There’s nothing quite like that sinking feeling when you step out of a taxi only to realise your mobile phone is speeding off into the distance on its back seat.

But the list of curios left behind in taxi cabs goes far above and beyond the odd wallet or set of keys. When Uber revealed its Lost & Found Index, we got a rare glimpse into what gets left behind. Here are 20 of our favourites…

  1. Smoke machine
  2. Engagement ring
  3. Rubber mallet
  4. Chair
  5. Pool cue
  6. Nordic walking poles
  7. Bulletproof vest
  8. Mustard
  9. Elf cut-out
  10. Harry Potter glasses
  11. Kite
  12. Potted plant
  13. Dog jumper
  14. Tap handle
  15. Arm sling
  16. Vacuum
  17. Violin
  18. Laser
  19. Hard drive

And perhaps the best of all…

  1. Lobster

Interestingly, there was a link between certain items and the most common days they are reported missing. For instance, Sundays saw the biggest spike in lost wedding dresses with most weddings taking place on weekends, whilst Fridays saw a host of lost briefcases as workers revel in that Friday feeling.
